I posted this report to the Chalice Well Yahoo! Group on 1 August 2007: It's been a busy Lammas 2007. The celebrations got underway the night before in front of the Goddess Temple at the Glastonbury Experience in the High Street. Arriving as the event was starting I was dismayed to be nearly out on the street. Fortunately the group soon shuffled up and some of us were able to get up on to the balcony, allowing some great photographs to be taken. Many of the people present were to be attending the word famous Goddess Conference, which was starting the following morning. A combination of talks, song and poetry made for an excellent evening and I enjoyed joining in the songs on my Bodhran drum. A collection was held for the Temple, which is badly in need of new premises. The next morning I climbed the Tor at 04:45 and joined the Western Order Of Druids for the sunrise celebration. It was only a small gathering this time because of the various festivals running at the same time and it being the holiday season. We waited for the sun to start rising and then we carried out the standard ritual. I was the bard for this event and read out my new 10-verse Lammas poetry. This was followed with mead and cakes for all. The sun was completely visible by the time we were finishing off the ritual. A few other people were on the Tor watching the sunrise and another guy `treated' us to an expletive-laden lecture on the problems of the world! A lady arrived for the ritual as we were packing up and later I met a man outside the White Spring who was intending to climb the Tor for the ritual, but by this time he was an hour late! His excuse was that he'd only been to bed at 04:30! I only needed to collect 20 litres of water on this visit as all my other containers had been filled the previous weekend. At midday it was off to Chalice Well for their Lammas event. A crowd began to form around the wellhead, which was lined with flowers. Nicholas Mann entered the circle to place a Lammas loaf on top of the well. This had been specially baked by the local Burns The Bread shop and it looked far too impressive to cut up! Natasha Wardle got things underway with some words and a song everyone was invited to contribute to. She then handed over to Nicholas who took us through some thoughts on the season and a meditation. Natasha got us to connect visually with the person next to us and then it was time to break the amazing Burns loaf. Michelle steadied the platter whilst Nicholas and Natasha wrestled with the sturdy beast. The loaf was broken into several smaller pieces and these were passed around the group. We broke off a piece for our partner, dedicated it and then handed them the loaf for them to reciprocate. While this was going on I read out the Lammas poetry I had debuted on the Tor earlier that day. Once the bread had been passed around, Michelle held the large Chalice whilst Jenny filled it with two bottles of Chalice Well's own pressed apple juice. We then took it in turns to drink the juice and dedicate the drink to something important to us. Natasha then led us in a special chant and I accompanied with a gentle beat on the Bodhran. With that the event was over and everyone was thanked for attending. Overall an excellent time was had by all and it was a great way to round off my Lammas celebrations. 31 pictures from the three events are included on the link below: http://www.handswithenergy.co.uk/events/lammas2007
